Version 5 for Version 4 Users

New User Interface Features

The NTB's user interface has been made easier to use. There are fewer pages and all pages are shorter to avoid the need to scroll within the page. Many pages divide up the information presented in 'Tabs'.

The correspondance between V4 and V5 pages is summarised in a table at the end of this page.

Diary Features

In V4.4 diary functionality was split up between the Layout Manager, Audio Settings and Display Settings pages. The diary status was obtained from the Diary Status page.

In V5.0, all diary functions, now called the schedule, are accessed from a single Schedule page, accessed from the Home page.

Template Manager

Templates have been removed for V5.0. In V5.0, Zone management, geometry and defaults are properties of a Layout. When a Zone is changed it will be applied automatically to the Layout.

Zone management and geometry are performed from a new Layout Editing page, while Zone Defaults are accessed from the Defaults tab of the Zone page.

Ad-Hoc

The Ad-Hoc mechanism has been heavily revised for V5.0. V5.0 introduces the concept of an Ad-Hoc Item, which is broadly equivalent to a version 4.4 Ad-Hoc Form. All Ad-Hoc Items are managed from a single page in V5.0, rather than being separated by Ad-Hoc type, as in version 4.4.

V5.0 allows Ad-Hoc Items to be collected together and displayed in Ad-Hoc Pages. There are two views of an Ad-Hoc Page; design view where the administrative user determines which Ad-Hoc Items should be shown, and the data-entry view that only provides access to the data entry parts of each Ad-Hoc Item on the page. The data-entry view is for the Ad-Hoc User.

The Ad-Hoc Pages feature allows the designer to group related Ad-Hoc Items, and allows the Ad-Hoc User to modify a number of Ad-Hoc Items from a single web page.

Ad-Hoc Pages can be created and managed automatically on a Layout by Layout basis by selecting the 'Ad-Hoc Page Management' option in Properties tab of the Layout page for the relevant Layout.

System Tests

System tests are now contained within the pages to which they relate, rather than being grouped in the System Tests page. For example, to test TV card functionality in V5.0, please visit the Tests section of the TV page in Setup.

Status Pages

The information shown by the seperate V4 Status pages has been incorporarated in to the matching setup page.

The following pages automatically update their status:
